Canada have won the Olympic gold medal in the women's football, coming from behind to take a 3-2 victory over Sweden in Friday's final.

The Canadians fell behind to Stina Blackstenius' penalty in the first half, but Janine Beckie pulled them level before half-time.

Sweden regained the lead through Kosovare Asllani in the second half, but Vanessa Gilles forced extra-time with a late header.

Deanne Rose then netted the winning goal in the 107th minute to secure a memorable gold medal for Canada.

The gold medal is Canada's third in a row at the Olympics, following their triumphs in London 2012 and Rio 2016.

Canada's victory is a testament to the strength and depth of their squad, which features a number of world-class players.
