Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club Valued at Over $12 Billion in 2021
Discrepancies in Assessed Values Raise Questions
County's Tax Assessment at $37 Million Far Below Market Value
In a recent court filing, it was revealed that former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago Club was valued at over $12 billion in 2021. This figure is significantly higher than the value listed in Trump's statement of financial disclosure, which placed the club's value between $18 million and $276 million.
The Palm Beach County assessor's office has appraised Mar-a-Lago's market value to be between $18 million and $276 million. However, the county has assigned the club a current value of $37 million for taxation purposes. This lower value is based on the club's annual net operating income, rather than its resale value.
The judge in the case noted that Trump valued Mar-a-Lago at between $426.5 million and $612 million in 2021, an overvaluation of at least $2.3 billion. This discrepancy in valuations has raised questions about the accuracy of Trump's financial disclosures.
In last year's tax rolls, Mar-a-Lago was assigned a total market value of $276 million. While the 2022 rolls have not yet been finalized, it is expected that the club's value will increase due to the rising property values in the area.
